DEPRESSION: SELF-TEST

The recognition of depression is not always straightforward.

This self-test is a quick assessment of your mood and to check if you are showing any of the main signs and symptoms for depression. Many health professionals use this self-test (the “Patient Health Questionnaire” or “PHQ-9”) to screen for depression. The test on this site is completely anonymous and confidential.

Results can be indicative but they do not mean that you have a diagnosis for depression. Only your doctor or other health professional can confirm a diagnosis. If you have been feeling really down and think you might be depressed, you should go to your doctor. Take the results of this test along with you – they can be a useful way to start a discussion.
