In the agglomeration of Cergy-Pontoise, the incidence of the suicide attempts is higher than the French national average. The WHO published the results of a European investigation implying 16 centers and 13 countries.
Two French centers (Bordeaux and Cergy-Pontoise) took part in this investigation. The results show a substantial variation of the suicide attempts rate from one center to another. In 1988, 656 suicide attempts registered at the Hospital were listed in Cergy-Pontoise. The results (table 2) gave for years 88-89, an average total incidence of 419 suicide attempts for 100 000 people (15 years old people and more).
This incidence is high compared to the French national average.
